Tournament Day

Everything you need to know about what to expect on tournament day, from check-in to final results.

Before You Arrive

  • 1.Check your email for any updates or last-minute changes from the tournament director.
  • 2.Note the check-in time, which is usually 15 to 30 minutes before the scheduled start.
  • 3.Bring water, appropriate volleyball attire, and sunscreen if the event is outdoors.
  • 4.Visit the tournament detail page for venue information including surface type (sand, grass, or indoor) and court count.

Check-in

  • 1.When you arrive, find the check-in area near the courts.
  • 2.The director uses an iPad to mark players as present by tapping your name. Your status changes from "registered" to "checked_in."
  • 3.If you are running late, contact the director as soon as possible. They may be able to hold your spot.
  • 4.Players who do not check in may be marked as "no_show" and their spot may be given to a waitlisted player.

Teams & Schedule

  • 1.After check-in closes, the director forms teams based on the tournament's team formation method (balanced random, partner picks, etc.).
  • 2.Teams and the game schedule are published to the live dashboard.
  • 3.You can view your team, court assignments, and game times on your phone.

During the Tournament

  • 1.Listen for announcements about your next game.
  • 2.Check the live dashboard on your phone or the TV display for court assignments and scores.
  • 3.Games are scored by designated scorekeepers or the director. The score entry page shows per-round progress (e.g., "2/4 scored"), and directors receive a notification when all matches in a round are complete.
  • 4.Scores update in real time on the leaderboard.

Dashboard & Leaderboard

  • 1.Every tournament has a dashboard at /dash/[slug] showing teams, schedule, and scores in real time.
  • 2.The leaderboard shows current standings and updates as games are scored.
  • 3.You can also access it from the tournament detail page by clicking "View" on the Live Dashboard card.
  • 4.During the tournament, check the dashboard for your next game and current standings.

After the Tournament

  • 1.Final results are posted on the leaderboard once all games are complete.
  • 2.The tournament status changes to "Complete."
  • 3.You can revisit the tournament page anytime to see final standings, stats, and results.
