Entering Scores
Quick guide for scorekeepers on how to enter and manage game scores during tournaments.
On this page
1. Accessing the Scorer
There are several ways to access the score entry interface:
Director Portal
When assigned as a scorekeeper, go to the Director Portal to see your tournaments. Open a tournament and navigate to Scorer or Manual Scoring.
Mobile/Tablet
Use a shared device at your court. The tournament director will set this up for you.
Tip: Bookmark the scorer page on your device for quick access during the tournament.
2. Finding Your Game
- Open the scorer interface
- Look for games marked as "In Progress" or scheduled for the current time slot
- Find your assigned court number
- Verify the teams match what you see on the court
- Click on the game to open score entry
Game Status Icons
- Scheduled: Game hasn't started yet
- In Progress: Game is currently being played
- Completed: Game has finished and scores are recorded
3. Entering Scores
- Select the game you're scoring
- For each set:
- Enter the score for Team A
- Enter the score for Team B
- The system automatically calculates the winner based on sets won
- Click "Submit Score" or "Save" to record the result
- Confirm the scores are correct when prompted
Score Entry Methods
Depending on the tournament format, you may enter scores differently:
Point-based scoring
Enter the final point totals for each team (e.g., 25-21, 25-18).
Set-based scoring
Enter sets won by each team (e.g., Team A: 2, Team B: 1 for a best-of-3).
Win/Loss only
Simply indicate which team won the game.
Double-check before submitting! While scores can be edited later, it's best to get them right the first time. Ask team captains to confirm if you're unsure.
4. Editing Scores
Made a mistake? Here's how to correct scores:
- Find the completed game in the scorer interface
- Click the "Edit" button (or pencil icon)
- Update the incorrect scores
- Click "Save" to update the record
Note: If you don't see an edit option, contact the tournament director. They have full editing capabilities in the Director Portal.
5. Tips for Scorekeepers
Stay focused on your court
Keep track of the score throughout the game, not just at the end. It's easier to verify if you've been watching.
Enter scores promptly
Submit scores as soon as the game ends. This keeps the tournament running smoothly and updates standings in real-time.
Confirm with team captains
When in doubt, ask both team captains to confirm the final score before submitting.
Report issues immediately
If you can't access the scorer or something seems wrong, let the tournament director know right away.
Troubleshooting
Can't find my game
Make sure you're in the correct tournament. Go to the Director Portal home page to see your assigned tournaments. If still missing, ask the tournament director to verify the schedule.
Score won't submit
Check your internet connection. If the page is frozen, try refreshing. Your entered data should be preserved. If you see a "Read-only" banner, the tournament has been completed or archived and scores can no longer be changed. Contact the tournament director if corrections are needed.
Entered wrong score
Look for an edit button on the completed game. If you can't edit, find the tournament director immediately so they can correct it.
Teams look wrong
Verify you're scoring the correct game by checking team names against the physical teams on the court. If there's a mismatch, notify the tournament director.
